When surgical treatment of a TFCC injury is necessary this is usually done as an outpatient with an arthroscopic technique. The surgery may involve a simple debridement of the cartilage or possibly a repair. This depend on the location of the tear and the condition of the tissues. At time, it may also require a shortening of the ulna bone if it is too long.
Post-operatively, there is usually a standard period of immobilization with a progressive return to range of motion and strengthening.
